MEET DR. JULIE PLAGENS
Dr. Plagens is from Elkhart, graduating as valedictorian from Elkhart Memorial High School in 1985 as Julie A. Gaydos. She earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering at Purdue University in 1989 then received her D.D.S. degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1993. She has participated in various continuing education classes to further her valuable education, including the Dawson Occlusion Courses.
Dr. Plagens is currently a member of the American Dental Association and the Indiana Dental Association. She has donated services to Give Kids A Smile, Donated Dental Programs and Dr. Angie’s Dental Health Exchange. She is a Legatus Member and a sustainer for Junior League Charity Organization. She has volunteered at Queen of Peace Church as Committee chair for Peacefest Sponsorships since 2010. She is also a Board Member for Marian High School and is a “volleyball Team mom“ there where her daughters go to school.
Although her practice is in South Bend, Dr. Plagens resides in Elkhart with her husband Ray and daughters Marisa and Morgan. Ray serves as an independent agent for Healthmarkets Insurance Agency, offering health, life, Medicare, and long-term care insurance. He is also a retired Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. As members of Morris Park Country Club, Dr. Plagens enjoys playing on the 18-hole golf league while Ray plays for men’s golf leagues. Besides golf, Dr. Plagens’ interests include skiing, scrapbooking, boating and traveling, along with the many activities that interest her girls, such as volleyball and swimming.
